The "Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)" Laboratory, set up on April 26, 2004 following a Regional Council resolution, investigates and tests new information and communication technologies with the twofold aim of:

• Identifying possible applications and potential of such technologies within the Regional Information System (SIRe).
• Facilitating the development and sharing of new technological and organisational models throughout public administration in Piedmont.

In its current phase, the work of the Laboratory concerns the analysis and assessment of certain lines of activity:

• Business intelligence
• Office automation
• Technological platforms
• ICT security
• Web and Multimedia
• Wired and wireless

The Laboratory is a unique initiative in the context of public administration, and a vital transversal tool for ICT in Piedmont.
